Work of Art

The short stop-motion film is inspired by 18th century folk art and the relationship between women and corsetry. The premise is that a bird from an 18th century quilt comes to life and begins to pick apart at an 18th century corset to create a new yardage of patterned fabric. When the job is done, the old corset falls apart and the bird flies out the window free of its constraints. Suddenly, the yardage of fabric transforms itself into a new corset, the corset of the 21st century, where it is less constraining and re-appropriated as a symbol of female empowerment.
